HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.–As part of its long-standing commitment to the communities it serves, Nuvision Credit Union hosted its annual First Responders Appreciation Luncheon in honor of National First Responder’s Day October 28th.
The event, which was held at the Huntington Beach, California Police Department, celebrated and paid tribute to Huntington Beach First Responders by providing lunch and refreshments to 300 police, fire and safety personnel from the city of Huntington Beach.
During the luncheon, Nuvision Credit Union was honored to recognize a number of first responders serving Huntington Beach for their work in, and dedication to, the local community, by presenting them with the Nuvision Heroes Award.

The credit union presented the award to Police Officer Mike Carsten, who was honored as Police Officer of the Year; Fire Captain Drew DiPaola, who was honored as Firefighter of the Year; and Marine Safety Specialist Jakob Kress, honored as Marine Safety Officer of the Year.
Nuvision also recognized and presented its Heroes Award to two First Responders serving in Anchorage Alaska — Firefighter and Paramedic Jayson Russell, and Police Officer Melissa Lampert – for their dedication and leadership in protecting, serving, and strengthening the communities of Anchorage.
“National First Responders Day is our opportunity to actively show our gratitude and deep appreciation for all the incredible work our first responders do to help keep our communities safe,” NCU CEO Roger Ballard said in a statement. “We are honored to recognize the dedication, bravery, and resilience of those who protect and serve—often in moments of crisis, putting their own safety at risk.”
