On Opposite Coasts, CUs Announce New Names, Branding

WEST WAREHAM, Mass.–Two credit unions on opposite coasts have announced new names and brands.

In Massachusetts, Plymouth County Teachers Federal Credit Union has introduced a new name and brand.

The $64.1-million CU is now Cranberry Federal Credit Union.

CEO Dan Picard told The Week Today that the credit union wanted a name that captured the heart and soul of the credit union.

“This change celebrates our past while setting the tone for an even brighter future — one where we continue to grow with our members and serve them in deeper, more meaningful ways,” Picard told the publication.

The new Cranberry FCU said it will introduce new branding across its website, mobile apps, branches and communications throughout August.

Cranberry FCU has approximately 3,700 members.

Name Change in California

Separately, in El Centro, Calif., the $219-million First Imperial Credit Union announced that effective Sept. 8 it will change its name and rebrand to Corazo Credit Union. Corazon means “heart” in Spanish.

“With our growing membership and expansion to Riverside County, this rebranding allows us to strengthen our connection with everyone we serve today and in the future,” the credit union said on its website.

The credit union said its new logo features heart elements arranged symmetrically, with their pointed ends converging toward a center dot, “symbolizing the credit union’s commitment to placing members at the core of everything it does.”

New Slogan

With the new name has also come a new slogan, “People are the Pulse,” which it said represents the fact “members are the heartbeat of everything we do. It’s a reminder that every service, decision, and innovation is driven by the needs and dreams of the people we serve.”
