Prestige Community’s Sammy Shanafelt to Retire; Successor Named

DALLAS – Sammy Shanafelt, president and CEO of Prestige Community CU, said he will retire Oct. 10 after 19 years with the credit union. PCCU has named a successor.

“Since joining Prestige Community Credit Union in 2006, Shanafelt has led the organization through significant milestones, including growing the credit union from under $40 million in assets to over $120 million today, enhancing the products and services available to members and growing loans in excess of $100 million, helping members ‘Live Successfully,’” the credit union said in a statement. “His leadership has left a lasting legacy of financial strength and member-first service. Shanafelt has served the credit union industry for almost 40 years.”

“It has been my honor to serve Prestige Community Credit Union and our wonderful members,” Shanafelt said in a statement. “Together, with our exceptional team, we’ve built a credit union that stays true to its values while embracing innovation. I leave very confident in a bright future for Prestige Credit Union and know the existing staff will continue to carry our mission forward.”

New CEO Named
The $121 million Prestige Community has named Ron Knight, currently serving as senior vice president of marketing and operations, as its new president and CEO.

“With over 23 years in the industry, 17 years at Prestige Community Credit Union and a proven record of leadership, innovation, and commitment to members, Ron brings continuity and vision to the role,” the credit union said.

“I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to serve as the next CEO of Prestige Community Credit Union,” Knight said in a statement. “Having been a part of this incredible organization for 17 years, I know firsthand the passion our team has for serving members and the community. I look forward to working alongside our staff, board, and members to build on our success and embrace new opportunities.”
