Results of One CU’s Student-Run CU Program are Released

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich.–TBA Credit Union is reporting it has concluded its 2024-2025 Student-Run Credit Union (SRCU) program, which it said helped students save more than $6,400.

During the past school year, the program was held in ten local schools.

The $370-mmillion TBA CU said that this year, Trinity Lutheran School received the traveling trophy, which is awarded yearly to the school with the highest percentage of participation from TBA Credit Union student account holders.

“The Student-Run Credit Union (SRCU) program is designed to encourage lifelong savings habits and provide first-time job experience to students in the 4th or 5th grade,” the credit union explained. “Student volunteers apply and interview for their desired credit union position, then run an SRCU branch at their school. Student members can deposit money into their TBACU youth account or apply for membership without entering a branch.”

‘Great Pride’

“Our team takes great pride in bringing financial literacy to local schools,” Marketing Manager Mary Beth Ruskowski said in a statement. “It’s not just about teaching money skills- it’s about empowering the next generation. We value the connections we build, the impact we make, and seeing our student volunteers and members grow.”
