Rodney Hood Rejoins Board of Zest AI

BURBANK, Calif. — Zest AI, a leader in AI lending technology, said former Acting Comptroller of the Currency and NCUA Chairman Rodney E. Hood has rejoined its board of directors.

Hood previously served on the company’s board and returns as Zest AI works to expand responsible AI tools for lenders.

“I’ve seen lending from every angle—as a regulator, as a banker, and as someone who cares deeply about economic empowerment,” Hood said. “Zest AI represents the future I’ve been working toward: innovation that creates economic prosperity for consumers while enabling financial institutions of all sizes to compete and grow. Together, these outcomes strengthen the broader financial system and the U.S. economy—a win for all.”

Hood’s career spans more than 30 years in financial services, regulation and public policy, including service under three U.S. presidents. At the OCC, he promoted responsible innovation while maintaining regulatory standards. As NCUA chairman and vice chairman, he pushed to modernize credit union operations and expand financial inclusion.

In the private sector, Hood has held leadership roles at JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo and Bank of America, with a focus on community development and CRA compliance.

“Rodney has an exceptional track record of balancing innovation with regulatory excellence—experience that aligns directly with Zest AI’s mission,” said CEO Mike de Vere.

Zest AI offers AI-automated underwriting, generative AI-powered lending intelligence and fraud detection. The company said its tools are designed to improve compliance, expand access to affordable credit and boost efficiency for lenders.
