SUMTER, S.C. – Michael Baker, CEO of SAFE FCU, and his wife, Carrie, have been hospitalized following a serious motorcycle accident. They remain in the ICU at Mission Hospital in Asheville, N.C.
In a statement posted on both the credit union’s Facebook page and on LinkedIn, SAFE FCU said, “Michael is more than SAFE’s President and CEO. In addition to being a much-loved husband and father, he is a friend, leader, and trusted resource to so many SAFE employees and members. We all wish him a full and speedy recovery though we know it will take time.
“Michael and Carrie’s faith is very important to them, so your prayers are welcomed and needed. If you’ve ever met Michael, you know how deeply he believes in the strength and heart of his SAFE Family—and we will live up to that belief, together,” the statement continued. “While Michael recovers, SAFE’s Executive Team and Board will ensure the credit union remains on course and true to its mission of service to our members and communities. In the meantime, please keep Michael, Carrie, and their entire family in your thoughts and prayers.”
The $1.88-billion SAFE FCU has approximately 143,000 members.
