Sidney FCU Pledges $500K to Impact Project Loans for Home Repairs for Qualified Members

GREENE, N.Y. –Sidney Federal Credit Union said it is pledging $500,000 to Impact Project Loans for homeowners who need critical home repairs and whose income qualifies under New York State HEAP guidelines.

The program covers Chenango, Otsego, Delaware, and Northern Broome counties in New York.

Sidney Federal Credit Union President Jim Reynolds told  The Impact Project is a huge help in the community, and joining forces was a no-brainer.

“The need is real, the challenge is real, and we know people are hurting,” said President and CEO Jim Reynolds in a statement. “So, why is SFCU involved? Well, we talk a lot about purpose over profits, and we have a simple purpose statement: ‘Do well to do good.’ So, do well financially so we can do good in our communities.”

$l300K Was Pledged Earlier

According to Reynolds the new pledge follows the $300,000 pledge the $1.22-billion Sidney Federal Credit Union made two years ago to create a loan program.

Qualified homeowners can borrow up to $15,000 at half a percent interest to help cover needed repairs.

In addition, local media reported that Reynolds surprised Impact Project Director Jim Willard with a $50,000 donation.
