Solarity CU CEO Mina Worthington Named WA State Advocate of the Year by GoWest CU Association

YAKIMA, Wash.– Solarity Credit Union President and CEO Mina Worthington has been named the Washington State Advocate of the Year by GoWest Credit Union Association, recognizing her leadership and impact in advancing credit union advocacy at the state and federal levels.

The State Advocate of the Year Award is presented annually to one leader in each GoWest state who demonstrates strong advocacy leadership, inspires others to engage, and makes a meaningful impact on legislative, regulatory and political priorities, the GoWest Association said, adding that recipients are also recognized for their collaboration with peers to strengthen advocacy efforts across the credit union movement.

According to GoWest, Worthington was selected for consistently leading by example and going above and beyond to advance credit union advocacy.  Her work includes acting as the political action committee trustee, engaging in policy-setting committees, and encouraging Solarity team members to share their expertise through working groups and grassroots efforts. She has also built strong relationships with state and federal legislators and served as a key resource for GoWest and fellow credit unions on critical policy issues affecting members and communities.

“It’s no secret that the challenge and complexity of policy making increased dramatically in recent years,” Joe Adamack, SVP of legislative affairs at GoWest, said in a statement. “At every step along the way, Mina has stepped in to lead and ensure elected officials understand the impact and importance of credit unions to their constituents. She has consistently engaged her team and board and provided leadership among her peer CEOs to collaborate and meet the moment.”

As Washington trustee for the America’s Credit Unions Political Action Committee, Worthington worked directly with other credit union CEOs to significantly increase participation and fundraising during a pivotal time for the credit union movement. She also ensured Solarity could host an entire Washington state legislative committee, investing significant time to welcome lawmakers on site as a result of the relationships and trust she has built.

“I’m honored to receive this award and to represent Solarity and the broader credit union movement,” said Worthington in a statement. “Advocacy is about showing up, building relationships and making sure the voices of our members and communities are heard. This recognition reflects the commitment of our entire Solarity team, and the power of WA state credit unions working together to protect and strengthen the credit union difference.”
