MELBOURNE, Fla.— As part of its ongoing commitment to community engagement and youth education, Space Coast Credit Union (SCCU) supported “JA in a Day” school takeover in partnership with Junior Achievement of the Space Coast at Quest Elementary School as part of its Partners in Purpose program.
The effort was part of a broader investment in the nonprofit, including a $25,000 donation to support its ongoing student programming.
The credit union said JA in a Day brought together approximately 75 SCCU volunteers who stepped away from their day-to-day roles to spend the school day mentoring students. Volunteers led lessons for kindergarten through sixth grade. Working in pairs, volunteers guided students through interactive activities designed to help them understand how businesses, careers and communities connect in the real world, while introducing foundational concepts related to money and entrepreneurship.

“The lessons we get to facilitate through JA in a Day give students a look at how businesses, community and money movement all work together in a way that feels real and engaging,” SVP-Marketing Joelle Hahn said in a statement. Hahn leads Partners in Purpose at Space Coast Credit Union. “At SCCU, our Partners in Purpose program helps us engage in volunteer opportunities like this, where we can spend time with students, share our experiences and hopefully spark a little confidence and curiosity.”
Programs, such as JA in a Day, reflect a growing emphasis on giving students early exposure to real-world experiences beyond the classroom, helping them build confidence and better understanding how businesses and entrepreneurs in their community function.
Junior Achievement of the Space Coast is one of SCCU’s nonprofit partners under Partners in Purpose, the Credit Union’s formalized Corporate Social Opportunity program that aligns volunteerism, corporate giving and nonprofit partnerships to create lasting community impact. Through this partnership, SCCU supports initiatives that advance financial education, career pathways and community engagement opportunities across the region.
