Space Coast Partners With JA for Hands-On Financial Ed for High Schoolers

MELBOURNE, Fla.–Space Coast Credit Union (SCCU), one of Florida’s largest credit unions, partnered with Junior Achievement of South Florida to bring hands-on financial education to local high school students during its annual Stock Market Challenge.

On Feb. 25, over 20 SCCU Team Members volunteered their time mentoring nearly 400 students from Broward County high schools through an interactive simulation designed to mirror real-world situations in stock market trading. SCCU also donated $25,000 to Junior Achievement of South Florida to continue their programming in support of students across the region.

“We’re proud to once again support Junior Achievement of South Florida in equipping students with the financial skills they need to navigate the real world with confidence,” said Shane Hoyle, CEO of Space Coast Credit Union. “As we celebrate 75 years of service, our commitment to empowering communities remains strong through our ‘Partners in Purpose’ program, which expands access to financial education and fosters meaningful, lasting relationships in the communities we serve.”

During the event, students experienced 60 days of stock trading, each day lasting only 60 seconds. The volunteers created a fast-paced environment in which the students were highly engaged, giving them a taste of real-world trading. SCCU’s support of programs like the Stock Market Challenge highlights its ongoing dedication to serving the community and investing in the next generation. This event reflects SCCU’s commitment through its Partners in Purpose program, supporting community initiatives such as Junior Achievement.
