To Mark ‘Milestone,’ SRP FCU Creates a Museum to its History

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. — SRP Federal Credit Union has opened a new museum inside its administrative campus as it marks the “significant milestone” of its  65-year anniversary.

Founded in 1960 by a group of DuPont employees as a small institution serving the dedicated employees of the Savannah River Plant, SRP Federal Credit Union said it has expanded to serve a much broader market.

“Over the decades, we’ve expanded our mission, but our core values remain the same – empowering members, building financial security, and improving lives,” reads the welcome sign just inside the SRP Museum, according to the credit union. “Step inside and explore our legacy of resilience, growth, and opportunity.”

SRPFCU said the museum tells its story through artifacts, historical photos, interactive elements, and more. Replicas of SRP’s first ATM and black-and-white photo walls help bring the credit union’s vibrant history to life, it added.

‘Detailed Timeline’

“With a detailed historical timeline and a wall display dedicated to the impact of the SRP Affinity Debit Card Program for local schools, the SRP Museum demonstrates SRP’s longstanding commitment to the credit union philosophy of people helping people,” the credit union said in a statement.

SRP FCU said it welcomed active and former members of the its board, management and team members, and guests to the museum’s unveiling ceremony, a “celebration complete with a green carpet and a grand curtain reveal.”

“We are thrilled to honor the rich history of SRP Federal Credit Union with this state-of-the-art museum,” Chief Development Officer Shana Reid said in a statement. “It is not just unveiling a space, but revealing the stories, values, and people that shaped who we are.”
