Two CUs File Suit Against Slim CD, Alleging Loss of Member Data in Breach

NEW CASTLE, Penn.–First Choice Federal Credit Union and Financial Horizons Credit Union have filed a class action lawsuit against Slim CD Inc. alleging the company didn’t adequately safeguard payment card data that was breached and taken by unauthorized parties between Aug. 17, 2023, and June 15, 2024.

According to Bloomberg Law, the complaint alleges that Slim CD, which is a payment gateway and processing provider, violated the Federal Trade Commission Act and industry standards that include the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards, by failing to implement reasonable data security measures to protect payment card data.

The lawsuit says cardholder names, credit card numbers, and expiration dates were obtained in the breach.
