SOUTH BEND, Ind. – United Federal Credit Union pledged $5 for every strikeout thrown by the South Bend Cubs in 2025, raising $5,440 for the Food Bank of Northern Indiana. The credit union rounded the donation up to $6,000.
“As soon as we saw the chance to support the Food Bank of Northern Indiana through the Strike Out Hunger initiative, we didn’t hesitate,” said Jacob Alexander, senior market development manager. “At United, giving back to our communities is who we are.”
The funds will support the Food 4 Kids Backpack Program, which provides weekend meals for children during the school year.
“The South Bend Cubs deeply appreciate United Federal Credit Union for standing with us in the fight against hunger,” said Joe Hart, Cubs president.
Food Bank CEO Marijo Martinec added, “This partnership allows the Food Bank to provide kids with a weekend sack of food during the school year. Because of this, hungry kids can focus on learning during the school day.”
