US Senate FCU Marks 90th Anniversary With Creation of New Foundation

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — The United States Senate Federal Credit Union (USSFCU) is marking its 90th anniversary with the creation of a new foundation.

Founded in 1935 by nine Senate employees during the Great Depression, USSFCU noted it began as a cooperative alternative to traditional banks—built on the principle of people helping people.

“Ninety years later, that core philosophy—people helping people—is still the heart of everything we do,” Arthur Green, chief experience & marketing officer, said in a statement. “Our members’ trust has fueled our growth, and we remain focused on serving them with the same care and integrity that defined our founding.”

USSFCU has now grown to $1.5 billion in assets.

Foundation Launched

To commemorate its milestone, USSFCU launched the USSFCU Foundation, dedicated to advancing financial wellness, education, and community inclusion nationwide. The foundation builds on its long history of supporting meaningful initiatives that promote financial empowerment, USSFCU said.

“The foundation allows us to extend our impact beyond banking,” Green said in a statement. “It’s about creating opportunities for financial well-being and empowering the communities where our members live and work.”

Throughout 2025, said it is celebrating with member appreciation events, community outreach, and a storytelling campaign highlighting members and employees whose stories “reflect the credit union’s enduring mission of service.”
