SALT LAKE CITY–Utah First Credit Union said it will underwrite a $30,000 music scholarship contest to “help launch the careers of Utah’s next big music talents.”
Through the Utah First Credit Union Music Scholarship, two students starting music studies at Southern Utah University in Fall 2026 will receive the financial assistance in turning their passion into a profession.

“Utah First has been part of this community for 90 years, helping people through all kinds of financial milestones,” UFCU CEO Darin Moody said in a statement. “This scholarship is a natural extension of that effort and empowers the next generation of Utah talent to dream bigger.”
The first-place winner will receive $20,000 while the runner-up will receive $10,000.
Video Entries
The credit union is accepting video entries for the scholarship, including a live video filmed for the contest. The video is to be posted on TikTok, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts, and Utah First is to be tagged.
Ten finalists will be chosen — five based on social media engagement and five on talent, originality, and potential. A celebrity judging panel, including Utah leadership, SUU faculty, local artists, and influencers, will choose the winners, the credit union said.
