TAMPA, Fla.– Velera announced it will once again be joining with credit unions, industry partners, volunteers and supporters from across the country as a sponsor of two major industry-focused races: the Credit Union Cherry Blossom in Washington and the Credit Union SACTOWN Run in Sacramento, Calif.
The Credit Union Cherry Blossom will take place in Washington, D.C. and feature a 5K race on April 11 and a 10-mile race on April 12. The Credit Union SACTOWN Run includes a 5K and, new for 2026, a Road Mile, both taking place on April 12.
“These events put the credit union philosophy of people helping people into action, uniting participants nationwide to make a difference in their communities,” Velera said. “The Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile Run and 5K Run-Walk complement the public policy advocacy efforts of America’s Credit Unions (ACU), bringing together thousands of participants – including more than 900 Congressional staffers – to highlight the industry’s dedication to service and volunteerism.”
Funds For CMN
Both races also support fundraising for Children’s Miracle Network (CMN), which funds critical medical services and pediatric research across 170 premier children’s hospitals in North America. Nationwide, credit unions are among the largest fundraisers for CMN, ranking fifth overall.
“These signature credit union-branded events provide opportunities for credit unions to visibly demonstrate their commitment to the communities they serve, with all donations benefitting local CMN hospitals,” Velera said.
Velera added it has supported the Credit Union Cherry Blossom for nearly 25 years, underwriting race expenses so more of the proceeds go directly to patient care and research. Since 2002, the Cherry Blossom has raised over $12 million for the nonprofit.
Velera is also a longtime supporter of the Credit Union SACTOWN Run in California, which has raised nearly $3 million for CMN since its launch in 2012 through a partnership between Credit Union for Kids and the Sacramento Running Association.
Flagship Events
