Washington, Massachusetts CUs Place Wager on Super Bowl; Urge Others to Join Them in Raising Funds for CMN

SANTA CLARA, Calif.–A credit union in New England and another in Seattle have placed a wager on their teams in this weekend’s Super Bowl, and they are encouraging other CUs to join them as they look to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network.

BECU in Seattle, supporters of the Seattle Seahawks, and Metro Credit Union in Massachusetts, supporters of the New England Patriots, are backing their respective teams.

In a post on its LinkedIn page, Metro Credit Union said the CU supporting the losing team will make a $1,000 donation to Credit Unions for Kids

“It’s all in good fun, all for a great cause, and bragging rights aside, our communities are the real winners” the post states. “Want in on the challenge? We’re inviting credit unions across the country to join the fun!  Add your own wager, donate to Credit Unions for Kids, and let’s turn the Big Game weekend into a nationwide celebration of cooperation, community, and credit union spirit.”

GoWest Association Issues Challenge

The GoWest Credit Union Association has challenged the American Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL) and America’s Credit Unions(ACU) to also get involved.

“We have accepted and are bringing this challenge to our GoWest team and member credit unions as a reminder that every day there are kids, families, and hospitals across all our communities who need the collective support of the credit union movement,” the GoWest Credit Union Association said in a statement.

The Super Bowl will be played Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif. The game begins at 6:30 ET/3:30 PT.
