With 1 CU Reporting Losses, Nov. 1 Date Set for Merger to be (Almost) Completed

DOVER, Del.— Two Delaware credit unions, one of which has posted losses in 2025, have announced a Nov. 1 date for the official completion of their merger, although members will not be able to use each other’s branches for almost a year.

The $731 million Del-One FCU said it is merging in the $220.5 million Louviers FCU.

As the CU Daily originally reported here, at the time the two CUs announced earlier this year they would be seeking to merge, Del-One, which has 88,000 members, reported $196,029 in net income as of Q1, with net worth of 8.60%. Louviers FCU, which has approximately 16,600 members, posted a $143,835 loss as of Q1, with capital of 16.82%. LFCU showed a loss of $72,798 as of midyear, with capital of 17.38%. It had positive net income of $442,325 as of year-end 2024.

Del-One FCU reported $399,752 in net income at midyear.

“We are incredibly excited about the opportunity to join forces with Louviers FCU,” Dan McCarthy, president and CEO of Del-One FCU, said in a statement. “This merger is not just about combining assets—it’s about combining legacies, cultures and a shared vision for empowering our members and our teammates.”

The credit unions cited an expanded branch network, enhanced technology and greater financial strength to their combined membership as benefits of the merger, with Del-One FCU saying it is committed to “honoring the legacy” of Louviers FCU.

“Longtime members will continue to see familiar faces, experience personalized service and benefit from the values that have made Louviers Federal Credit Union a cornerstone of the community,” the credit union said in a statement.

While the merger date is Nov. 1, Del-One said that because the two CUs are running different core systems, “Operational Day 1” will not take place until Aug. 3, 2026. “All current Del-One FCU members will continue to visit only Del-One FCU branches, and all legacy Louviers FCU members will continue to visit only legacy Louviers FCU branches,” the credit union said.
