28 Congressional Candidates Backed by ACU PAC Won Races This Week

WASHINGTON — Twenty-eight congressional candidates backed by America’s Credit Unions PAC won their party nominations in primary elections held in Utah, Maryland and New York, advancing to the November general election, according to America’s Credit Unions.

The trade group said the victories included four open-seat races, which it characterized as important opportunities to elect lawmakers supportive of credit union priorities.

“Credit unions and their members continue to showcase the power of cooperative finance through the success of credit union champions in elections,” said Trey Hawkins, head of political affairs for America’s Credit Unions.

“In open-seat elections particularly, our early support can determine whether the seat is won by a credit union supporter,” Hawkins said. “America’s Credit Unions PAC is proud to support credit unions at the highest levels of government and ensure decision makers keep credit union priorities top of mind.”

Independent Expenditure in Utah

As the CU Daily reported earlier, the trade group’s political action committee provided an independent expenditure advertising campaign supporting Ben McAdams in Utah’s 1st Congressional District. McAdams won his open-seat primary race against three opponents.

The organization also highlighted victories in New York by state Assembly members Micah Lasher and Robert Smullen in open-seat congressional contests.
