Citadel Credit Union Presents Fundraiser for Hospital That Raises $1.8 Million

PHILADELPHIA–More than 290 teams represented by 8,000-plus supporters helped raise more than $1.8 million for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Cancer Center’s largest fundraiser, the Parkway Run & Walk, which is presented by Citadel Credit Union.

The funds will directly support pediatric research and care for those battling cancer.

“As presenting sponsor for the sixth year, Citadel Credit Union is proud to support CHOP’s Parkway Run & Walk,”  Steve Miller, Citadel’s vice president of philanthropy and community engagement, said in a statement. “This year, our employees, families, and friends exceeded our internal fundraising goal, and more than 300 also participated by running, walking, or volunteering. Standing alongside CHOP and our community, we’re committed to building strength together and bringing hope to children and families across the region.”

‘So Special’

“This event is so special as it gives our doctors, nurses, social workers, child life specialists, and others who work at our Cancer Center the chance to come together with our patients and their families for a fun and inspiring morning,” Dr. Susan Rheingold, attending physician at the Cancer Center at CHOP, said in a statement. “The Parkway Run & Walk raises critical funds for research, which is essential in our fight against childhood cancer. We thank everyone who participated as they are part of our mission to develop better treatments and outcomes for those in our care.”
