HFS FCU Raises $25,000 for Hawaii Island Adult Care

HILO, Hawaii–Explaining that “Caring for the growing needs of kūpuna on Hawai’i Island is an honor that comes with increasing financial challenges for many,” HFS Federal Credit Union said it realizes the need and has “embraced its promise to be a place where caring counts.”

The credit union reported that throughout October monetary donations were collected at sixbranch locations to benefit Hawai’i Island Adult Care (HIAC), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to provide ‘ohana with high-quality adult daycare and caregiver services to support aging in place. The funds collected will support HIAC’s Kūpuna in Need program, helping to subsidize services for community members who need extra assistance. 

“We are thrilled to announce a successful fundraising campaign for Hawai’i Island Adult Care. With the generous hearts of our valued members and the dedicated efforts of our exceptional employees, an impressive $25,020 was raised,” President and CEO Nathan Abe said in a statement. “The commitment shown by everyone involved is a powerful testament to our shared belief in supporting the vital work HIAC does every day to provide compassionate care and essential services to our island’s kūpuna and their families. We would like to thank everyone who supported this campaign for making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.”

A $25,020 check was presented to Hawai’i Island Adult Care.

“We are extremely grateful for the generosity and partnership with HFS Federal Credit Union. They live out their motto of ‘where caring counts,’ and we are so grateful to be part of their annual fundraiser,” Executive Director Andrea Wernli said in a statement. “This support helps us continue to serve our caregivers and our kūpuna of Hawai’i County. All funds donated will go directly to our Kūpuna in Need program, which provides direct financial support to those who cannot afford to pay the full cost to attend HIAC out of pocket at the level or regularity needed. We deeply appreciate HFS and its ongoing commitment to supporting local nonprofits like ours. Mahalo for your support.”
