Tucson FCU Provides Emergency Grocery Gift Cards to School Counselors for Students

TUCSON, Ariz.. — Tucson Federal Credit Union (TFCU) provided 200 emergency grocery gift cards valued at $50 each to help families experiencing food insecurity or sudden financial hardship.

The credit union said the gift cards, a $10,000 community support initiative, will be provided directly to school counselors and designated educators at Blenman Elementary, Doolen Middle School, and Catalina High School, who will distribute them discreetly to families most in need.

“This is about meeting families with practical support in a way that protects dignity,” COO Krystal Adams said in a statement. “School counselors and educators are often the first to recognize when a family is under strain. By placing these resources in trusted hands at the school level, we can respond quickly and thoughtfully – right where help is most needed.”

TFCU’s grocery gift card initiative is designed to provide immediate relief for essentials such as food and household necessities. Distribution will occur through existing school support channels to ensure the assistance reaches families facing the highest need while maintaining privacy.
The initiative reflects TFCU’s longstanding community roots of being founded by educators and built to serve working families, and aligns with the credit union’s mission to empower people and improve lives through service, education, and access, the credit union said. It launched the program over the holidays.
