ALBANY, N.Y.–With bitter cold and heavy snow hitting much of the country, Broadview Federal Credit Union helped provide winter essentials to shelters across the state just in the nick of time.

Employees of the $9-billion Broadview FCU, which closed its offices on Monday due to the storm, delivered $60,000 worth of items to 28 shelters as part of the Code Blue initiative. The donation included hats, gloves, socks, fleece blankets and hand warmers.
According to the credit union, 23 of its employees visited the City Mission of Schenectady to drop off supplies ahead of the winter storm.
Code Blue shelters are available for homeless individuals during severe weather. The shelters are coordinated by the Homeless and Travelers Aid Society.
