DCUC Wraps Up Overseas Sub-Council Conference in Bangkok

BANGKOK, Thailand–The Overseas Sub-Council Conference hosted by the Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC), and cohost State Department Federal Credit Union (SDFCU) in Bangkok, Thailand has wrapped up.

According to DCUC, the conference convened credit union CEOs, board members, and senior executives of DCUC’s Overseas Sub-Council for discussions focused on the “unique challenges and opportunities facing credit unions operating internationally. Attendees received timely insights from government officials and industry experts to remain informed, connected, and mission-ready while supporting servicemembers, diplomats, and their families.”

“Given the longstanding diplomatic ties between the U.S. and Thailand and increasing military focus across the Pacific, the gathering highlighted the importance of strong alliances and reliable financial services in sustaining operational readiness abroad,” DCUC said in a statement.

‘Reinforcing Readiness’

“This conference reinforces the important role credit unions play in supporting financial readiness for Americans serving around the world,” DCUC President/CEO Anthony Hernandez, Ret. USAF Colonel, said in a statement. “At a time of heightened geopolitical complexity, ensuring secure, reliable financial services for our military and diplomatic communities is more important than ever.”

Added Jim Hayes, president and CEO of State Department FCU, in a statement, “Co-hosting DCUC’s overseas conference reflects our shared commitment to strengthening global diplomacy and supporting U.S. personnel’s financial well-being wherever they serve. According to DCUC, hosting this year’s overseas conference in the Pacific region was a deliberate and strategic decision, reinforcing the importance of diplomacy, partnership, and financial access in areas where U.S. engagement continues to evolve.
