PORTLAND, Ore.–Some credit unions just know how to identify with their field of membership. Case in point: Ironworkers USA Credit Union, which has introduced marketing messaging that is “badass.”
“Being an Ironworker is Badass…and your banking should match that energy,” its messaging reads as it promotes its “Badass Banking” solution.

“Being a member of Ironworkers USA Credit Union means you’re a badass,” the $49-million credit union says on its website. “Not only do you have the coolest, toughest job, but by being a member, you’re financially smart.”
The Benefits
The CU said its Badass Banking offers:
- Free checking accounts with no fees or minimums and free FICO scores and credit counseling so you can stay on top of your financial game.
- Remote banking, pay bills, transfer funds, and deposit checks from your phone or computer with no waiting, no hassle.
- Paid faster with free direct deposit, and access to cash at 30,000 surcharge-free ATMs nationwide.
- More savings with competitive rates.
- Perks like $2,000 TruStage insurance, free CarFax reports on financed vehicles, and exclusive discounts on travel, wireless plans, TurboTax, and more.
The Kicker
“Here’s the kicker: your money stays in the ironworker family, helping us all grow stronger. That’s not just banking, that’s banking like a boss,” Ironworkers USA says.
On its website, Ironworkers USA features a number of its members offering first-hand testimonials about the CU. In 2025, CEO Teri Robinson, who started with the CU in 1989 as a teller, was honored with a Herb Wegner Award for the work she has done turning around Ironworkers USA, which at one point NCUA recommended be merged into another CU due to its financial performance.
