Space Coast CU Unleashes New Ad Campaign Around its Watchdog Brand Mascot

MELBOURNE, Fla. — As it marks its 75th anniversary and continues expanding across Florida, Space Coast Credit Union has launched a new advertising campaign built around its “Watchdog” brand mascot.

The campaign, titled Banking on It,” is the latest phase of SCCU’s Watchdog marketing effort, which debuted in 2023. According to the credit union, the campaign uses familiar dog behaviors and trigger words to illustrate everyday financial situations, highlighting SCCU’s focus on protecting members’ financial well-being.

“Watchdog has become a powerful symbol of what our members can expect from Space Coast Credit Union,” Joelle Hahn, SCCU’s senior vice president of marketing, said in a statement. “As we celebrate 75 years of serving our members and communities, we remain as committed as ever to protecting their financial wellbeing. This latest Watchdog campaign reflects that commitment and reinforces the trust our members place in us every day in a fun, playful way.”

Building on Research

According to the $9=billion SCCU, the campaign builds on consumer research, audience insights and creative strategy developed for the original Watchdog initiative. The credit union said the newest campaign is designed to reinforce Watchdog’s role as a symbol of protection and trust while helping members avoid unnecessary financial stress and better understand the products and services available to support their financial goals.

The campaign will be promoted through digital advertising, billboards and broadcast media, including major television networks, connected TV platforms and audio streaming services. SCCU said the campaign is designed to reach both English- and Spanish-speaking audiences across Florida.

Space Coast Credit Union collaborated on the campaign with advertising and public relations agency &Barr, as well as production partners Diamond View and Cahoots Studios.

First of Two Major Campaigns

The credit union said “Banking on It” is the first of two major marketing campaigns planned for 2026 and will be followed by a second Watchdog-themed campaign later this year.
