COLUMBIA, S.C. — AllSouth Federal Credit Union President and CEO Bill Koehler will retire Aug. 14 after more than 40 years in financial services and 35 years in leadership roles at the credit union.
The c$1.5-billion credit union’s board has named Executive Vice President Connie Hernandez Vizitei to succeed Koehler as president and CEO.

Koehler first joined AllSouth in 1981 and returned in 1991 as vice president and controller after gaining experience in auditing and public accounting. He was promoted to executive vice president in 1993 and became CEO in 1994.
During Koehler’s tenure, AllSouth expanded its branch and ATM network, strengthened its technology capabilities and introduced new services for members and the community. He also led the credit union through recessions, the COVID-19 pandemic and, most recently, its transition from a community charter to a multiple-common-bond charter.

‘Pivotal Role’
“Bill played a pivotal role in shaping AllSouth into the organization it is today,” Board Chairman Walter B. Todd Jr. said in a statement. “His leadership, financial stewardship, integrity, and deep commitment to our employees and members have positioned the credit union for long-term success.”
“Serving this organization has been the honor of my professional career,” Koehler said. “I am proud of what we have accomplished together and confident in the bright future ahead.”
Vizitei has more than 15 years of credit union industry experience and has served on AllSouth’s executive management team for approximately nine years.
