SCU Credit Union Names Corey Shaw as VP of Risk and Compliance

BROCKTON, Mass. — SCU Credit Union has named Corey Shaw as vice president of risk and compliance. Shaw brings nearly 35 years of risk management and regulatory compliance expertise to the role, strengthening SCU’s commitment to protecting its members across Southeastern Massachusetts.

In his new role, Shaw will oversee SCU’s enterprise risk and compliance functions, including regulatory relations, Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) program, OFAC and sanctions compliance, operationalrisk management, and Financial Crime risk. His background includes experience as a federal regulator, along with senior compliance leadership roles at major financial institutions, where he built and led compliance monitoring programs, advised on compliance and risk strategy, and managed regulatory relationships for banks and credit unions alike.

“Compliance isn’t about saying no, it’s about giving us the confidence to say yes to our members, safely and responsibly,” said Glenn Parsons, president & CEO of SCU Credit Union. “Corey’s experience strengthens that promise to every member we serve.”

“I don’t see my role as being the policeman in the room. I see it as helping SCU find the path to serve members fully, while still protecting the credit union every step of the way,” said Shaw. “What drew me to SCU was the chance to work somewhere truly community-based, where the impact of what we do shows up locally, for real people I might run into around town. Having spent time as a federal regulator, staying ahead of the regulatory landscape is something I genuinely enjoy — it’s part of what makes this work meaningful to me.”

Outside of the credit union, Corey is an active member of his local community. He is a father of two, a 17-year-old daughter and a 13-year-old son, and serves as a registrar for Raynham Youth Baseball, where he also manageshis son’s team.
