SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police are searching for a suspect accused of posing as a Security Service Federal Credit Union employee and stealing from a 75-year-old woman while she was recovering from surgery at a hospital, according to News4.
The incident occurred June 28 at North Central Baptist Hospital on Madison Oak Drive, News4 reported.
Police said the woman had recently undergone surgery and was heavily medicated when she received a telephone call from someone claiming to work for Security Service Federal Credit Union.
The caller told the woman that her debit card had been compromised, according to investigators.
Allegedly Provided ‘Temporary Debit Card’
Police said the suspect later went to the hospital and gave the woman what was represented as a temporary debit card. During the encounter, the suspect allegedly obtained the woman’s actual debit card and personal identification number.
The victim’s debit card was subsequently used to make transactions at nearby ATMs and retail stores, according to News4.
San Antonio police are seeking information that could help identify or locate the suspect.
