CINCINNATI — Kroger has expanded availability of Fold Bitcoin Gift Cards following a seasonal pilot, making the cards available online and at select stores nationwide.
According to Fold, the the gift cards, available in physical and digital formats, allow consumers to give bitcoin without requiring recipients to first establish a cryptocurrency wallet. Cards can be managed and redeemed through the Fold app.
Following the pilot, the cards are now available in denominations ranging from $25 to $500 through Kroger’s gift card website and at select Kroger stores, Fold said.

Fold Chairman and CEO Will Reeves said Kroger’s decision to expand the program following the pilot demonstrates the potential for bitcoin products to reach consumers through traditional retail channels.
‘Powerful Proof Point’
“For us, it’s a powerful proof point that a major national grocer sees lasting value in bringing bitcoin-powered rewards into the aisles where people already shop,” Reeves said in a statement.
Fold is a publicly traded bitcoin financial services company whose products include bitcoin gift cards, an app and credit and debit cards. The company focuses on allowing consumers and businesses to earn, save and use bitcoin.
Seeking to Broaden Distribution
The Kroger expansion comes as Fold works to broaden distribution of its bitcoin gift cards through other major consumer platforms.
In July, Fold said its Bitcoin Gift Card became available through TikTok Shop. The company said it was the first bitcoin gift card offered through the e-commerce platform.
“Putting the Bitcoin Gift Card directly on TikTok Shop makes it accessible to the millions of bustling shoppers who are already buying gifts on the platform,” Reeves said at the time.
Fold also began offering its bitcoin gift card through Giftcards.com in August 2025. Fold said its card was the only bitcoin gift card available on the digital gift card marketplace.
Growing Customer Base
The company has also reported growth in its customer base and transaction volume. Fold said this month that it added more than 1,000 verified accounts during the second quarter, bringing its total to more than 87,000. The company reported $165 million in transaction volume for the quarter.
Fold said its expansion through Kroger and other retail and e-commerce channels is part of its strategy to make bitcoin accessible to consumers outside traditional cryptocurrency exchanges.
