Experian Launches App Within ChatGPT Allowing Consumers to Search, Compare Card Offers

COSTA MESA, Calif. — Experian has launched a credit card marketplace app within ChatGPT that allows consumers to search for and compare card offers through conversational queries, the company said.

The Experian Credit Cards app lets ChatGPT users explore cards based on criteria such as cash-back rewards, travel benefits, introductory interest rates and annual fees. Consumers can compare offers from financial institutions participating in Experian’s partner network.

The launch expands Experian’s efforts to integrate financial products and services into artificial intelligence platforms as consumers increasingly use AI tools to research financial decisions.

“Consumers expect financial experiences to be as intuitive as the technology they use every day,” Debbie Hsu, executive vice president of product at Experian Consumer Services, said in a statement.

What Consumers Can Compare

Experian said consumers can use the app with minimal information to compare card features including:

  • Annual fees.
  • Introductory bonuses.
  • Rewards rates.
  • Introductory annual percentage rates.
  • Ongoing APR ranges, when available.

Experian manages the credit card offer information displayed through the ChatGPT experience, which the company said helps ensure product details are consistent with information provided by card issuers.

Consumers interested in taking the next step are directed to Experian’s website, where they can view offers matched to their Experian credit profile.

Experian members may also be able to see preapproved offers for which they qualify and cards carrying Experian’s No Ding Decline designation. Experian said those products will not affect a consumer’s credit scores if the applicant is not initially approved.

Financial Shopping Moves Into AI

Michael Coleman, chief marketing officer at Credit One Bank, said the integration creates another channel through which consumers can research credit card products before applying.

“Experian’s Credit Cards app on ChatGPT creates a new way for consumers to discover and compare card options through a trusted, conversational experience,” Coleman said.

Experian said the credit card offering is part of a broader strategy to make financial marketplaces available through AI platforms consumers are already using. The company has also developed conversational experiences involving loans and insurance.

Experian plans to add greater personalization and expand lender participation in the credit card service in future updates.
