Now Showing: Servus CU to Provide 1,000 Free Tickets to Film Festival

CALGARY, Alberta — Servus Credit Union will provide 1,000 free tickets to screenings at the Calgary International Film Festival as part of an initiative aimed at expanding access to the arts, the credit union said.

Servus, which is the presenting sponsor of the festival, said its Free Movie Monday promotion will offer complimentary admission to screenings Sept. 28 at Globe Cinema, Chinook Theatre and Plaza Theatre.

Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis using a promotional code available through the festival’s website beginning at 10 a.m. Mountain time Aug. 28, according to Servus.

‘A Shared Story’

“Some of the best community experiences are the ones that bring people together around a shared story,” Servus President and CEO Ian Burns said in a statement. “Whether it’s a film that makes you laugh, challenges your perspective or sparks a conversation long after the credits roll, those moments matter.”

Burns said the credit union’s sponsorship is intended to help more Calgary residents participate in the festival.

The Calgary International Film Festival, known as CIFF, features films and filmmakers from Canada and around the world while also showcasing local filmmakers and storytelling.

“Servus Free Movie Monday is a wonderful example of what’s possible when community-minded organizations come together,” CIFF Executive Director Katherine Penhale said in a statement. “Servus Credit Union shares our belief that access to the arts can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives, and their support is helping more Calgarians experience the festival this year.”

Years of Support

Servus CU said it has supported the film festival for several years as part of its community investment programs, the credit union said.

The Alberta-based credit union serves more than 600,000 members and offers a range of financial services. Servus also distributes a portion of its profits to members annually through its Profit Share Rewards program.
