Tucson FCU to Host Special Event for Children Facing Illness at This Weekend’s Comic-Con

TUCSON, Ariz.–Tucson Federal Credit Union (TFCU) will be the official Little Heroes Sponsor of Tucson Comic-Con being held this weekend, as part of special event that welcomes children and families facing serious illness for a morning of connection, comfort and fun.

An hour before Tucson Comic-Con opens to the public on Saturday morning, families will be welcomed into the convention and greeted by cosplayers from groups across the community, according to the organizations.

Children receive goodie bags, take part in photo opportunities and experience the convention in a way many otherwise would not be able to, given the illnesses they are fighting or living with.

Where Kids are Coming From

Tucson FCU said kids and Families joining Little Heroes come from:

  • Candlelighters
  • Ronald McDonald House
  • A military family support program

“Tucson Federal Credit Union exists to empower people and improve lives right here in our community, and Little Heroes is one of the purest examples of that mission in action,” TFCU President and CEO Matthew Gaspari said in a statement. “For one morning, these kids get to be kids first, surrounded by joy instead of illness, and we’re honored to help make that possible.”

Tucson Comic-Con takes place Sept. 4-6 at the Tucson Convention Center.
