Michael Wilson Named to National CU Foundation Board

MADISON, Wis. — The National Credit Union Foundation Michael “Mike” Wilson, president and CEO of Members 1st Federal Credit Union, has joined its board of directors.

Wilson was selected by the Foundation’s Nominations Committee to fill a vacant seat on the Board and attends his first meeting this month in Washington, D.C. Following his acceptance, the full Board of Directors voted to elect him.

“Mike brings forward-thinking leadership to his role on Foundation’s Board, joining a passionate group of credit union and system leaders guiding our efforts to improve financial well-being with and through credit unions,” said Lauren Culp, executive director of the Foundation. “Mike’s perspective will help us push toward even greater impact across the movement.”

Wilson has served as president and CEO of Members 1st Federal Credit Union since July 2023, following seven years in leadership roles with the organization. Under his leadership, Members 1st continues to invest in new technologies, expand into new markets, and evolve how it serves its growing membership. Today, the Pennsylvania-based credit union serves more than 630,000 members, with $8 billion in assets and nearly 60 branches.

“The Foundation plays an important role in bringing credit unions together around something bigger than ourselves: helping people and communities thrive,” said Wilson. “At Members 1st, we are passionate about helping people live well financially, and that commitment extends beyond the walls of our branches. There is a natural connection between the work we do every day and the Foundation’s mission to advance financial well-being through credit unions. I am honored to serve on the Board and look forward to collaborating with leaders across the movement, sharing ideas and finding new ways to create meaningful impact for the people and communities we serve.”

Wilson fills the seat previously held by David Birky, EVP/Chief Strategy Officer, Interra Credit Union, who retired earlier this year. The Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to Birky for his service, leadership, and contributions to advancing the organization’s mission.
