PORT WENTWORTH, Ga. — VyStar Credit Union has joined the city of Port Wentworth and other partners in opening a new year-round entertainment venue that is expected to host concerts, family activities and community events in Southeast Georgia.
VyStar Pavilion officially opened during Port Wentworth’s annual 912 Day celebration, according to VyStar Credit Union. The event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the debut of the adjoining Ghost Pirates Ice Cove.
The two venues are part of Anchor Park and are designed to provide space for live entertainment, recreation and community gatherings while drawing visitors and supporting businesses in the Savannah region, VyStar said.
Part of Broader Investment
The credit union announced its partnership with Oak View Group in March as part of its broader investment in arts, culture and community development in Southeast Georgia. Zawyer Sports & Entertainment and the city of Port Wentworth are also involved in the project.
“At VyStar, our purpose is to Do Good and lead by example, and that means investing in partnerships that make a meaningful difference in the communities we serve,” VyStar Chief Marketing Officer Dana Karzan said in a statement.
Karzan said the pavilion will provide families, friends and neighbors with a place to gather for events and activities.
“We’re proud to support a space that will serve this community for years to come,” she said.
Expanding Presence in Georgia
VyStar said the partnership comes as the Jacksonville, Fla.-based credit union continues to expand its presence in Georgia and increase its involvement with organizations and projects intended to support community development.
Monty Jones Jr., general manager of VyStar Pavilion, said the opening represents a milestone for Port Wentworth and the greater Savannah area.
“We’re incredibly proud of our longstanding partnership with VyStar Credit Union and grateful for their continued investment in our community and in the vision for this venue,” Jones said in a statement.
Jones said VyStar Pavilion and Ghost Pirates Ice Cove are expected to bring additional entertainment and recreational opportunities to the area while attracting visitors and creating opportunities for local businesses.
“Together, these new spaces will bring world-class entertainment and recreation closer to home, while attracting visitors, creating opportunities for local businesses and contributing to the continued growth of the region,” he said.
VyStar said the opening of the pavilion and ice facility is intended to position Anchor Park as a regional destination for entertainment, recreation and community celebrations while contributing to economic activity in Southeast Georgia.
