Rio Grande CU Wins Gold Award from Marketing Association of CUs

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Rio Grande Credit Union won a 2026 Gold Award for Community Engagement from the Marketing Association of Credit Unions for its employee volunteer program and support of nonprofits in central New Mexico, the association said.

The award was announced at MAC’s annual conference in Scottsdale. The association said judges reviewed a record 548 entries from 103 credit unions, evaluating the work for creativity, strategy, execution and impact.

Rio Grande gives “day off certificates” to employees who volunteer with local nonprofits. Its employees logged more than 1,300 volunteer hours in 2025, supporting organizations including Special Olympics New Mexico, the Lobos Cancer Challenge and Tree New Mexico, according to MAC.

‘Couldn’t be More Proud’

“We couldn’t be more proud of our employees and our 4-for-free program,” said Luke Tanner, Rio Grande’s chief marketing officer. He said the program reflects the credit union’s commitment to communities in and around Albuquerque and Rio Rancho.

MAC Chair Andrea Finn said the awards recognize the work of credit union marketers nationwide. The association, founded in 1986, provides education, networking and recognition programs for credit union marketing and communications professionals.
