Altra FCU Buys Naming Rights to New Youth Sports Complex

ROCHESTER, Minn. — The Rochester City Council has approved a naming rights agreement with Altra Federal Credit Union for a youth sports complex under construction in the city’s southeast section. The facility will be called Altra Sportsplex.

The agreement is worth about $1.09 million over five years, according to KROC-AM News. That differs from the 10-year term in the request: The separate agreement approved for a field within the complex runs for 10 years.

KROC reported that Altra will pay $210,000 annually for the first two years, with payments rising 3% in each of the remaining three years. Sports Academy, which will operate the complex and negotiated the agreement for the city, will receive 20% of the naming rights revenue. The city’s share is expected to be about $870,849.

The council also approved an agreement with Knutson Construction to name one of the complex’s fields. KTTC reported that the field agreement is worth $84,000 over 10 years. Council minutes show both agreements were approved unanimously Sept. 21.

The outdoor complex is planned to include eight baseball and softball fields, two multipurpose fields, 12 pickleball courts and a basketball court. KROC reported that the first amenities are expected to become available in June 2027.
