APPLE VALLEY, Minn. – Wings Credit Union and the City of Apple Valley celebrated the official ribbon cutting for Wings Arena, recognizing a partnership that helps local families, young athletes, and community members enjoy one of Minnesota’s most cherished traditions.
Located less than a mile from Wings’ Minnesota headquarters, Wings Arena serves as a year-round gathering place for the community, hosting high school ice hockey, youth leagues, learn-to-skate programs, open skating, and recreational activities for residents of all ages.
Community members, local leaders, youth sports representatives, and Wings employees gathered Thursday for a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the facility’s new identity and the partnership’s shared commitment to keeping the arena accessible, welcoming, and vibrant for future generations.
“At Wings, our commitment has always been to the people and communities we serve,” said Amy Nigrelli, Wings’ chief brand & impact officer. “We’re proud to partner with the City of Apple Valley because this arena means so much to local families. It’s where kids learn and grow, friendships are formed, and lasting memories are made. Supporting Wings Arena is really about supporting the people who bring this community to life and helping ensure those experiences continue for generations to come.”
The partnership positions the City of Apple Valley to invest in the arena’s long-term future, helping address existing facility needs while creating opportunities for future improvements that enhance the experience for skaters, athletes, families, and visitors.

Following the ribbon cutting, community members enjoyed food trucks, arena tours, and activities celebrating the arena’s new chapter.
