CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Bank of America said it will hire 1,000 additional apprentices over the next two years and commit $150 million over five years to organizations that train workers and connect them with jobs.
The new apprentices will be added to the more than 800 the bank said it already hires annually. The company plans to expand existing programs and explore positions in consumer banking, technology, operations and other areas. It did not specify how many positions would be available in Charlotte or other markets.

How the Program Works
Bank of America described its apprenticeships as paid, structured programs that combine on-the-job experience with training. They generally last about 12 months, compared with roughly 10 weeks for an internship, and often lead to industry-recognized credentials or licenses that workers can take to another employer. Apprentices may move into other roles at the bank, though a promotion is not guaranteed, the bank said.
About 40% of Bank of America’s hires do not have a bachelor’s degree, the company said. Its employees also have access to training, coaching and hands-on learning through The Academy, the bank’s internal training organization, according to BofA.
Community Partnerships
Bank of America said the $150 million will support workforce organizations that teach skills sought by employers and help people find career opportunities. The bank said it will determine the specific recipients and investments over time based on local needs.
The commitment follows nearly $40 million the bank said it invested in 2025 through partnerships with more than 100 universities and community colleges and more than 600 nonprofits. Bank of America has also committed to hiring 10,000 additional people with military backgrounds over five years and 8,000 people from community colleges
