AUBURN HILLS, Mich.– – Celebrating its 90th anniversary, Genisys Credit Union has been named one of Michigan’s Best Credit Unions by Forbes for the seventh consecutive year.
The prestigious honor reflects nine decades of earning member trust while achieving elite national rankings for financial strength, operational excellence, and member value. In addition to the Forbes distinction, Genisys was recently awarded the Raddon Crystal Performance Award for the fourth time and for the third consecutive year.
Ranking in the top 3% of more than 500 credit unions evaluated nationwide, Genisys continues to stand among the top-performing credit unions in the country for growth, financial stability, operational performance, and member relationships.

“Receiving this recognition from Forbes during our 90th anniversary year is especially meaningful because it reflects the trust our members have placed in Genisys for nine decades,” said Jackie Buchanan, President and CEO of Genisys Credit Union. “At its core, this recognition reflects something simple: when a credit union is financially and operationally strong, we return value to our members. This honor belongs to our members, whose loyalty has shaped our history; to our team, whose dedication continues to define who we are; and to our board of directors. As we celebrate this milestone, we’re proud to continue building on a legacy of putting people first.”
Forbes’ Best-in-State Credit Union rankings are determined through an independent consumer survey evaluating key operational factors, including overall trust, customer service, digital tools, financial advice, and member recommendation rates.
Genisys’ long-term stability has allowed the credit union to grow from an employer-based institution into Michigan’s fourth-largest credit union while maintaining its member-owned mission. Today, as one of the nation’s most financially sound credit unions,
Genisys uses its operational strength to directly return over $100 million in savings dividends to its nearly 300,000 members annually. The credit union continually reinvests in its membership through competitive lending rates, community support, and market-leading products—such as its high-yield Genius Checking earning 6.75% APY (annual percentage yield) on balances up to $7,500 plus debit card rewards and Youth Savings accounts earning 6.00% APY on balances up to $2,500.
As Genisys begins its next 90 years, the credit union remains committed to the foundational principles established in 1936: maintaining financial strength, cultivating member trust, and investing in local Michigan communities to help members achieve lifelong financial success.
