PSECU Preparing to Intor AI-Powered Banking Capabilities in Partnership That Will Include Google’s Gemini

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union (PSECU) is preparing to introduce artificial intelligence-powered banking capabilities to its more than 545,000 members through a new technology partnership that will incorporate Google’s Gemini AI models.

The more than $9-billion credit union has selected Candescent, an Atlanta-based financial technology provider, to lead a multiyear transformation of its digital banking services. The initiative will use Candescent’s Votiv platform, which is being developed to incorporate artificial intelligence technology from Google Cloud.

According to announcements from PSECU and Candescent, the technology is intended to move digital banking beyond traditional account inquiries and transactions by providing members with personalized financial information, recommendations and assistance.

What Members Could Expect

Under the initiative, PSECU plans to introduce digital banking experiences capable of using account information and artificial intelligence to help members better understand their finances and take action.

According to Candescent, planned capabilities across its platform include:

  • Conversational financial information: Using natural-language interactions to deliver financial insights based on information held by a financial institution.
  • Personalized guidance: Providing recommendations and information relevant to individual members and their financial circumstances.
  • Proactive assistance: Identifying potentially useful actions and delivering information without requiring members to initiate every interaction.
  • AI-assisted service: Helping financial institution employees respond to inquiries and complete banking-related workflows.
  • Connected digital experiences: Combining banking information and services to provide a more integrated experience across different channels.

Google Partnership Announced Earlier

The PSECU announcement follows an Aug. 19 announcement in which Candescent said it had expanded its relationship with Google Cloud to incorporate Gemini models and the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform into its Intelligent Banking technology.

Candescent said its platform serves more than 1,300 banks and credit unions representing more than 30 million registered users.

The company said the first wave of Gemini-enabled capabilities was expected to become available to selected financial institutions during the second half of 2026, with additional features planned throughout 2027.

PSECU’s announcement did not provide a specific date when its members would begin using the new capabilities.

It also did not specify whether members would interact with Gemini through PSECU’s own digital banking channels or through a separate Google application.

‘More Personalized, Connected Experiences’

PSECU President and CEO George Rudolph said the investment reflects the credit union’s longstanding emphasis on technology.

“Digital innovation has always been part of how PSECU serves its members, and this partnership represents an important next step in that journey,” Rudolph said in the announcement.

“We are investing in the technology and capabilities that will allow us to create more personalized, connected experiences while continuing to deliver the trust and value our members expect from PSECU.”

Candescent CEO Jason Edelboim said PSECU is the first new client to select the company’s Votiv platform.

He said the selection validates the company’s strategy of incorporating artificial intelligence and real-time financial information into banking experiences.

Long History of Digital Banking

PSECU’s latest technology investment continues a history of providing remote banking services.

In 1995, the credit union introduced PSECU-at-home, distributing software to members on floppy disks so they could conduct banking transactions from home.

More than three decades later, the credit union is investing in another generation of digital banking technology as it approaches $10 billion in assets.

Candescent and PSECU said they will work together on implementation, including integrating technology, financial information and member experiences.

The companies did not disclose the financial terms of their agreement or provide a completion date for the project.
