Skip-a-Payment Option at St. Cloud Financial CU Leads to More Than $7k Raised for Schools

SARTELL, Minn.– St. Cloud Area School District 742 is the beneficiary of $7,730 for classroom supplies, thanks in part to credit union members here who were given the opportunity to skip a loan payment.

The $456-million St. Cloud Financial Credit Union presented the donation to the district. The payment was based on the credit union’s own gift and then it added $15 for every loan payment members skipped during a recent promotion.

According to local media, the funds are going to the district’s Ready, Set, School program, which stocks classrooms with basic supplies so families don’t have to buy as much on their own. This school year, the program expanded to cover preschool through fifth-grade classrooms across the district.

Credit union employees also volunteered at St. Cloud Tech High School this summer, helping pack supplies before classes started, St. Cloud Financial CU reported.
