APG FCU Recognized in Cecil Whig’s Reader Approved Awards

EDGEWOOD, Md.– APG Federal Credit Union has been named the winner in the credit union category of The Cecil Whig’s 2026 Reader Approved Awards. The recognition highlights APGFCU as a favorite among Cecil County residents.

The Reader Approved awards celebrate top businesses and organizations across Cecil County, with residents nominating and voting for their favorites. APGFCU’s recognition reflects its commitment to serving members and supporting the communities it calls home. With five branches in Cecil County, APGFCU has a long-standing presence in the community, dating back to the opening of its first Cecil County branch in 1989 in Elkton.

“We’re extremely honored to be recognized by the Cecil County community,” said Becky Smith, president and CEO of APGFCU. “This award reflects our credit union’s ongoing commitment to helping our members in Cecil County achieve their financial goals and providing residents with the personalized service they deserve. We’re grateful to everyone who took their time to vote for APGFCU.”

It’s been a meaningful few weeks of recognition for APGFCU. In October, APGFCU received a silver award from the Social Marketing Association of North America’s Social Marketing Awards for its “Money Made Understandable: APGFCU’s Financial Wellness Education Program” social media campaign. The award recognizes the credit union’s efforts to make financial education more accessible and engaging.
