BRIGHTON, Mich.—Lake Trust Credit Union, a community-based credit union serving nearly 200,000 members and businesses throughout Michigan, announced its team assembled and donated 1,044 care kits to local organizations supporting foster youth, as part of its ninth annual Powered by Good Day.
“For the past eight years, our team has come together to make a meaningful difference across Michigan. This year, that shared commitment took on special meaning as we helped bring comfort and care to children experiencing foster care during a difficult transition in their lives. We’re grateful to the organizations supporting these children every day and proud to work alongside them toward our vision of a world in which everyone thrives,” said David Snodgrass, president and CEO of Lake Trust Credit Union.

On Monday, October 12, 293 Lake Trust team members volunteered more than 600 hours, assembling “first night” kits for infants, children and teenagers experiencing foster care across Michigan. Team members spent the day making hand-tied blankets and packing 1,044 backpacks with essentials to help foster youth through the first night in a new home. The kits will be donated to various foster care organizations across the state. Batches of these kits have already been sent to Ennis Center for Children in Monroe and Love in Deed in DeWitt.
In addition to volunteering its time, Lake Trust donated nearly $4,000 in food to LACASA Center in Howell and purchase $420 in cookies from Torch 180 Cafe & Coffee Bar in Fowlerville to share with the Lake Trust team.
Since 2018, Powered by Good Day has enabled Lake Trust team members to participate in service, expand community impact and empower wellbeing throughout Michigan. Over the years, Lake Trust has completed more than 7,500 hours of service and has donated over $206,000 to organizations across the state, strengthening local communities.
