SECU of Maryland In 7-Year Naming Rights Deal for Arena

TOWSON, Md.–State Employees Credit Union of Maryland has entered into a seven-year naming rights deal for the home arena of the Towson University Tigers.

SECU had previously been the naming partner for the facility from 2013-23.

The 5,200-seat multi-purpose SECU Arena is home to four Towson Tiger athletics teams–men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball and gymnastics—as well as home to TU’s biannual fall and winter commencement ceremonies.

In addition, the facility is the current home of the Baltimore Blast of the Major Arena Soccer League and hosts more than 100 events annually, including a fan-favorite TigerFest concert for students in the spring. In the early summer, the arena serves as home to Baltimore County public high school graduations as well.

‘Reflection of Commitment’

“At SECU, we believe in building strong communities, and this partnership with Towson University is a reflection of our commitment to offering tools for all Marylanders to achieve financial wellness,” President and CEO Dave Sweiderk said in a statement. “SECU Arena represents a shared vision of excellence and opportunity for students, athletes, and the broader Baltimore region. We’re honored to once again be part of the energy and purpose that this arena embodies.”

The 117,000-square-foot venue has 340 club seats, four private suites and nearly 100 courtside seats. Upon opening, the arena was awarded LEED Gold certification for energy use, lighting, water and material use, and other sustainable features.

The $5.57-billion SECU has approximately 265,000 members.
