FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich.—Five credit unions have joined to form a new CUSO aimed at helping other CUSOs, and has appointed a well-known leader to helm the organization.
Called CUSO Edge, it is being backed by 4Front Credit Union, Community Choice Credit Union, ELGA Credit Union, Team One Credit Union, and Honor Credit Union.
According to the credit unions, CUSO Edge will focus on supporting CUSOs and their owner credit unions by providing advisory services aimed at enhancing:
- CUSO investment and capital strategies
- Governance policies and practices
- Growth strategies
- Strategic plan reengineering
The Officers
The newly elected officers are:
- Chairperson, Rob Bava, Community Choice CU
- Vice Chairperson Heather Luciani, Honor CU
- Secretary/Treasurer, Derrick Barber, TeamOne CU
The Management
Dave Adams, the former president and CEO of the Michigan CU League and CUSG, will serve as president/CEO of the new support CUSO. Adams retired in 2024 after a “40-year career emphasizing successful investment in and management of numerous CUSOs and related businesses,” the organization said in a statement.
“CUSO Edge owners have a vision for sharing resources to support both their existing and future CUSO investments,” Adams said in a statement. “Importantly, they are eager to share this collaborative model with credit unions in Michigan and across the country. I’m excited to join the team and see significant opportunities ahead.”
The Plan
Leveraging the founding members’ existing CUSO investments and future ventures, CUSO Edge said it plans to assist CUSOs and their owner credit unions nationwide with growth and performance strategies through a range of advisory services and value-added partnerships.
