Directions CU Names Winners of Scholarship Program

TOLEDO, Ohio— Directions Credit Union has announced the winners of its 2025 Scholarship Program. This year’s recipients represent outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and community involvement throughout the areas Directions serves, DCU said.

Each year, Directions Credit Union awards a total of $15,000 in scholarships, including 12 one-time $1,000 college scholarships and three one-time $1,000 private high school scholarships. These scholarships are awarded to students pursuing higher education at colleges, universities, or vocational schools, as well as to students attending private high schools.

“We are proud to invest in these bright students as they pursue their educational and career goals,” President/CEO Barry Shaner said in a statement. “This program is one of the many ways we live out our commitment to serving the communities we’re a part of.”

Directions Credit Union received 318 applications for this year’s scholarship program. The 2025 winners include:

Toledo Recipients

  • Andrew Balcerzak – The Ohio State University
  • Ella Caldwell – Grand Valley State University

Cecelia Crandall – Miami University – Oxford

Allie Trammell – University of Cincinnati

Central Ohio Recipients

  • Jackson Beamer – Ashland University
  • George Johnson – University of Florida Kendall Nolen – Mississippi State University
  • Makena Northcutt – The Ohio State University

Michigan Recipients

  • John Decker III – University of Toledo
  • Owen Freker – Michigan State University
  • Kylee Moore – Ferris State University
  • Cameron Tross – Michigan State University

2025 Private High School Scholarship Recipients

  • Susan Wyss – Notre Dame Academy
  • Mason Koch – CHESS Christian School
  • Zyan Breznik – Lenawee Christian School
