As City Turns Itself into Fictional Town, Lake Trust CU Steps Up as Sponsor

BRIGHTON, Mich.— Lake Trust Credit Union said it will serve as the title sponsor for Destination Stars Hollow, a multi-day themed event that transforms the city of Brighton’s Main Street into fictional TV town Stars Hollow and which last year drew more than 40,000 people.

After a successful first year, Destination Stars Hollow will return to Brighton from September 19-21 for a weekend filled with “immersive experiences,” according to Lake Trust.

“At Lake Trust, we believe small businesses are at the heart of a thriving community. When they succeed, it creates a ripple effect felt throughout the community,” President and CEO David Snodgrass said in a statement. “Destination Stars Hollow is a celebration of that notion and has created a platform for the people and small businesses that make Brighton special to shine. We look forward to supporting this event, putting everything the city has to offer center stage while driving growth for our local economy.”

What Will Take Place

Lake Trust CU reported that from Sept. 20-21, all attendees can visit their favorite small businesses reimagined as Stars Hollow-inspired locations, such as Captain’s on Main, which became Antonioli’s Pizza, as well as 2 Dandelions Bookshop, which became Stars Hollow Books.

Other locations returning from the inaugural event include Luke’s Diner, Doose’s Market, the Dragonfly Inn and Taylor’s Olde Fashioned Soda Shop, the credit union added.

Attendees can also participate in new themed activities such as a Chilton Fashion Show, a Bid-a-Basket Auction, an “egg” hunt, and even more immersive experiences.

40,000 Visitors

“In its first year alone, Destination Stars Hollow brought 40,000 visitors from places as far as Hawaii, Florida and Arizona to downtown Brighton. This year, we’re eager to welcome them back with an expanded weekend-long itinerary featuring brand new activities,”  Kathleen London, Destination Stars Hollow co-founder and organizer, said in a statement. “With the support of Lake Trust, we’ve been able to take Destination Stars Hollow to new heights, enhancing the overall attendee experience while working together to make a lasting impact in the community and support  local businesses.”

According to Lake Trust, this year’s event will also offer guests the opportunity to take part in a VIP shopping experience on Friday, Sept. 19.
