NCUA to Hold Public Hearing for Florida CU’s FOM Expansion Request

SWEETWATER, Fla.-NCUA said it will hold a public hearing on Sept. 23 related to a proposed field of membership expansion by Dade County FCU.

The $1.4-billion Dade County Federal is seeking to expand north into Palm Beach County, Fla., and south into Monroe County. In 2024, the credit union expanded its FOM to Broward County, home to Fort Lauderdale. Dade County is home to Miami.

In all, the requested FOM would include 6.3 total people, should its request to add the two-million residents of Palm Beach and Monroe counties be approved.

DCFCU currently has approximately 107,000 members.

About the Hearing

In the notice in the Federal Register, NCUA says “interested parties seeking to make presentations during the hearing” must register by Aug. 26 to be placed on a list of presenters.

“The applicant along with no more than seven other interested parties may request to make presentations,” the notice states. “The first six interested parties that contact the NCUA in writing will be permitted to make such presentations.”

In addition, NCUA’s notice says members of the public seeking to watch or listen to the virtual meeting must register to view the public hearing. Written comments must be submitted by Aug. 26

The Sept. 23 hearing is set for 1 p.m. E.T.
