Surveillance Video Shows Thieves Pulling ATM Loose, Giving Up in Frustration

BROOKFIELD, Wis.–An attempt to steal and break open an ATM here was captured in detail on surveillance video.

The video shows two individuals at 4:19 a.m. who hid their identities as they did considerable damage but were ultimately unsuccessful in their attempt to get to the cash inside the ATM at a drive-through of Landmark Credit Union.

The video shows one person in a gray hoodie and black backpack as he or she sprints into the frame and then uses a crowbar to pry a door open on the machine.

Pickup Truck & Chain

A gray pickup truck then approaches with a chain hanging over its rear tailgate. The person with the crowbar then attaches the chain to the machine. When the driver lurches forward with the truck the ATM is completely pulled form its moorings and dragged across part of the parking lot.

Video then shows the driver exiting the vehicle as both individuals attempt to break open the machine for approximately one minute, before giving up and running out of the video, leaving the truck behind and running.

Police arrived at 4:32 a.m. No arrests have been made.
